Welcome to the Disturbed Army. If you hate shopping malls, One Direction, Big Brother, 50 shades of vacuous drivel and Strictly Talentless X-Celebrities Cooking in the Fucking Jungle then you’ve come to the right place.
My aim with this community is to sow the seeds of a counter-cultural revolution. I want to unite everyone who rejects the carefully orchestrated world of mass media, mass consumerism, social obedience, enforced routines and suppressed ambition.
My goal is to bring together people who believe in originality, creativity, pleasure, adventure, discovery and living life on their own terms without regret. This is a hub for you to meet others who refuse to conform, and discover books, films, music, magazines and blogs that reflect these values.
I’m not starting a cult or a sub-culture because these are too easily marginalised by society; flower-power hippies and the V for Vendetta anarchists can easily be labelled and dismissed. The Occupy mob may have garnered some headlines, but Capitalism is hardly on its knees. Anarchists and outsiders change nothing and attract unwanted attention.
Let’s be clear: we are not going to end poverty, inequality, Capitalism, war or corruption. Politics will always be about ego and self-preservation, bankers will always get rich and some people will always lack the means or the motivation to support themselves.
The goal, therefore, is not to topple the system but to create a movement which chooses to ignore it.
I want this site to be a home for anyone who celebrates individuality, personal choice and free-thinking. As long as you are not a sheep and you are keen to enrich your life and the lives of others, then you are welcome here. Your race, nationality, sexuality, background, age and occupation are all irrelevant.
To address the elephant in the room, you may be wondering why you should listen to me, an alcoholic killer who once worked for the very media that I’m now denouncing. It’s a fair question, but I believe that I have earned redemption for my criminal acts, and my previous role at the heart of the insidious media machine qualifies me to challenge it now.
I will be writing many more blogs with my thoughts and opinions, so use the comment forms to say whether you agree or disagree with me. If you’d like to write your own blog article for this site, please feel free to send it to [email protected]
