Look J. Boden
Look is a photographer and designer from Holland. He initially studied law in Rotterdam, but the lure of his creative side was too great. During and after his studies, Look was the founder and editor of the literary magazine Renaissance.
From 2001 to 2003 he was editor of a local newspaper and a business magazine, before he started a career as a writer and graphic designer.
Since 2008, Look has been active as a portrait and fine art photographer, working on a collection of portraits and conceptual images. A favourite theme is to portray two extremes (such as strength and vulnerability, love and murder) side by side. He also likes to capture what he calls "the beauty of the ordinary" in his nude portraits.
Look debuted in 2007 with the poetry collection The Delusion of the Night. His first publication as a photographer was made in collaboration with his wife, Mirjam. Their coffee table book A City of a Thousand Words is a tribute to their hometown Vlaardingen and appeared in December 2009.
In the summer of 2014, Look created a series of photographs to accompany James Howell's novel, A Disturbed Girl's Guide to Curing Boredom. You can view the images from this project here.
